Edinburgh neighbourhood is city's last coronavirus hotspot as cases drop

Level Zero restrictions were implemented in Edinburgh, and the rest of Scotland, on Monday and since then, cases have begun to steady out.

As the percentage of the population who have been fully vaccinated passes the 50% mark, cases have begun to subside in many areas of Edinburgh.

Just last week, 50 neighbourhoods in the capital were in the 400+ cases per 100,000 threshold, well over the brink for Level Four lockdown to be implemented.

However, with hospital admissions at an all-time low, and deaths staying at a manageable level, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon sees no need to enforce stricter rules.

Listed below are the 23 neighbourhoods with the highest number of cases in Edinburgh, according to the latest Public Health Scotland data.

The First Minister has urged caution to the people of Scotland, as the country moved into Level Zero restrictions, with some modified curfews and rules.

She stated in her announcement on Tuesday, "We are undoubtedly in a better position than we were last year, but we can't abandon caution altogether.

"The limit on the number of people who can meet together is still really important. Face coverings remain a legal requirement in some settings here in Scotland."
