Edinburgh neighbourhood bar in Sighthill could win Scotland Community Pub of the Year prize

After thousands of votes from the public, the prestigious Scottish Bar & Pub Awards have now named their finalists for 2022.

The Scottish Bar & Pub Awards, in its 27th year, has been dubbed the 'hospitality Oscars' and celebrates Scotland’s licensed trade.

This year's awards feature standout pubs up and down the country in more than 24 categories, including Antos Dog-Friendly Pub of The Year; Hi-Spirits Best Live Music Venue; The Busker Cocktail Bar of the Year and Kopparberg New Bar of the Year.

Every finalist has been voted for by the public and people in the trade and will have been visited by mystery shoppers. Winners will be announced at a prestigious award ceremony on 30th August 2022 at The Doubletree Glasgow Central, in Glasgow.

And one Edinburgh venue to make the shortlist is a neighbourhood boozer in Sighthill, that could soon be crowned Scotland's best community pub.

Silver Wing sits in the heart of the Broomhouse community (The Silverwing Bar)

The capital's Silver Wing is competing alongside three others from across the country to land the DRAM Community Pub prize, after recently celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Described as a ''friendly community bar selling draft and bottled beer/lager wines/bubbles spirits and cocktails", the Silver Wing serves as an important hub in the Sighthill community, located on Parkhead Gardens.

Silver Wing is no stranger to awards, having previously scooped the much sought-after Best Bar None Platinum prize.

Speaking about the 2022 awards, organiser Susan Young commented: “The votes are in and verified and the time is nearly here to celebrate the best of the best at The Scottish Bar & Pub Awards.

“The licensed trade needs our support more than ever and Scottish hospitality has never been better. Congratulations to all the finalists - your recognition is very well deserved, and I can’t wait to see who takes home the trophies at this year’s awards."
