Edinburgh mum left without food for kids after ASDA sent shopping to wrong house

An Edinburgh mum was left without food for her kids after ASDA sent her shopping to the wrong house.

The mum-of-three was out of vital provisions for five days after the supermarket giant refused to redeliver her order and instead offered her a refund and £15 voucher.

ASDA have since apologised for the incident, saying it "falls for short of the expectations we set ourselves".

But the woman's mum, Annemarie, told the Daily Record she was "disgusted" by the supermarket's actions after her daughter and grandkids had to go without until she stepped in.

Gran Annemarie said: "She was left without provisions for five days and I would have been left longer if I had not shamed them on Twitter - it was the only way I could seem to get a response.

"I waited a few days to give them the opportunity to resolve it but they didn’t.

"Family had to step in so at least she had someone to advocate. But how many other families have fallen off the radar because it’s been too difficult?

"What happens to families who are left without?

"To them it’s 'oh we’ve made a mistake' but the wider impact is detrimental."

The mum says her order, which was made from the store at The Jewel, came in at over £100 and included food and essential items for the whole family.

She added: "I’m just not having it. I’m absolutely disgusted with their response - disgusted.

"For such a big supermarket they pretend they’re all about family and all of that - they don’t give a sh*t about family."

A spokesperson for Asda said: “We deliver over 800,000 orders every week but this experience falls far short of the expectations we set ourselves.

"We apologise again for delivering to the wrong house and we hope that on the rare occasion where this happens people will be honest with our drivers about receiving a delivery which they haven’t ordered.

"Due to the banking process there can be a short delay in refunds appearing on bank statements, but customers should contact their banking provider for assistance with this.”
