Edinburgh motorists warned of delays with M9 motorway work lasting twelve days

Road users in Edinburgh are warned to expect delays with works on an Edinburgh roundabout on the M9 motorway lasting nearly a fortnight.

Transport Scotland’s operating company Bear Scotland will undertake the roadworks this month from Monday October 18 to Saturday October 30.

In a change to previously advertised dates and times the lanes will be closed on Newbridge Roundabout every night for twelve days, from 8pm to 6am the next morning.

Two of the three lanes on the roundabout over the M9 at Newbridge will be closed. All slip roads and exits from the roundabout will remain open and the remaining lane will be left open to allow traffic to continue using the roundabout.

Chris Tracey, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These lane closures are essential to allow us to replace worn out joints in the bridges that form the Newbridge Roundabout over the M9.

“We’ve scheduled the works overnight to minimise any disruption, however if you do need to use this route on these nights, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.trafficscotland.org, twitter at @trafficscotland or the mobile site my.trafficscotland.org
