The Edinburgh What the Fork Monarchs basked in the West Lothian sunshine as a scintillating display saw them defeat the Newcastle Diamonds 58-32 at Armadale Stadium on Friday night.
The hosts were without Nathan Greaves following his crash at a Team GB session the previous day, with the rider replacement allowing for more rides for both Josh Pickering and Kye Thomson.
The Aussie pair certainly made them count as they tallied a paid 32 points. Pickering grabbed a five ride paid maximum while it was 15+2 for the increasingly impressive Thomson who grabbed his highest mark of his debut season.
Monarchs captain Sam Masters, who also scored a paid five ride maximum, heaped praise on his team-mates, saying: "Big scores for all the boys and we need that confidence boost for a busy month coming up. We need to be on our game and we all are."
Only William Lawson of the regular team members didn't enjoy a points spree, finishing with a disappointing two-point score.
The only Newcastle rider to take the chequered flag was reserve James Wright in heat 14 on a day to forget for the visitors.
Next up for Edinburgh is the Scottish derby at home to Glasgow on Friday. While Greaves should be back, they will no longer have the benefit of Thomson at reserve for what should be a cracking encounter.
