Edinburgh Met Office weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday as things start to improve

It's been a rough fortnight so far as Edinburgh's weather goes.

With beer gardens opening towards the end of last month we were all hoping for some sunshine and warm weather to enjoy our al fresco pints in – but it wasn't to be.

Things have been, quite frankly, rotten this last week with heavy rain and temperatures you often see in January and February.

So how do things look this weekend? Are we set to see an improvement in conditions across the Scottish capital?

What is Edinburgh's weather forecast for Saturday?

Well, there won't be much improvement on Saturday unfortunately.

Met Office forecasters are predicting rain throughout much of the afternoon, with the heaviest showers around 3pm and 4pm.

Very little sunshine, if any at all, is expected to break through, with dark clouds likely to dominate the skies. Temperatures will be around 6C or 7C, but feeling more like 2C.

All in all, not much of an improvement on what we've seen in recent days.

What is Edinburgh's weather forecast for Sunday?

Sunday, on the other hand, looks a lot better.

Experts say things are likely to start off cloudy before the sun comes out early in the afternoon.

We might see some rain showers briefly around 1pm, but they aren't expected to hang around for too long.

Sunshine and cloud is then on the cards for much of the afternoon, with a sharp rise in temperatures.

Forecasters say things are likely to reach 13C or 14C in the mid to late afternoon.

A big improvement on what we've seen in recent days – and perhaps a chance to meet up with some friends and family outdoors.

Forecast comes courtesy of the Met Office.
