Edinburgh Marks and Spencers 'sends 20 staff members home' after Covid-19 'outbreak'

An Edinburgh Marks and Spencers has reportedly sent 20 staff members home after a Covid-19 outbreak.

 One employee is believed to have tested positive for coronavirus.

An inside source told Edinburgh Live that staff at M&S Craigleith Retail Park had been forced to remain at home after a food assistant became infected with the deadly virus.

Anxious staff members are understood to have been told the news last night.

An M&S spokesperson  told thee Daily Record that: “The health and wellbeing of our colleagues and customers always comes first.

"We have enhanced cleaning procedures and measures in place across all M&S stores to help safeguard customers and colleagues.

"If a colleague shows symptoms of coronavirus, we will always respond in line with  government guidelines  and colleagues can self-isolate on full pay.”
