An Edinburgh student has died after falling from the window of a Capital flat block in a tragic morning incident.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene at Lauriston Gardens at around 7:15am on Tuesday, June 1 following a flurry of calls from panicked neighbours.
Police officers and ambulance teams responded to the incident in the tenement near the Meadows.
However, the man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after police arrived.
The victim is yet to be identified and local officers remain on the scene to carry out door-to-door patrols of the area in order to establish exactly what happened.
Police have since launched an investigation to establish the full circumstances surround the incident.
They are yet to launch an appeal for information, but insist a probe is being carried out.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We received a report that a man had fallen from a third storey window on Lauriston Gardens, Edinburgh, around 7.15am on Tuesday, 1 June.
"The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident."
