Edinburgh man sentenced to at least six years for serious offences against women

A man from Edinburgh has been sentenced to six years in prison after being found guilty of 14 charges, Police Scotland have confirmed.

Brian McLintock was convicted of a number of serious offences against four women over a period that spanned longer than a decade.

The 31-year-old was previously found guilty of 14 charges, including rape, sexual assault and assault.

McLintock was given an Order for Lifelong Restriction (OLR), meaning that on release he will be subject to conditions and monitoring until his death.

The sentencing took place at the High Court in Glasgow today (January 25).

Detective Inspector Adam Brown of the Edinburgh City Division Public Protection Unit said: "McLintock terrorised a number of women over a 12 year period without any apparent remorse.

“It is as a result of their courage in coming forward that he has been held accountable for his actions. The sentence and OLR should serve as an indication to perpetrators that abusive behaviour will not be tolerated."
