Edinburgh man seen 'filming women' in local park as police launch investigation

Police are investigating reports of a man "filming women" in Edinburgh's Saughton Park this week.

Officers say their enquiries are at an early stage and they are attempting to establish the full circumstances.

One woman saw a man apparently filming her on his mobile phone as she walked through the park at around 5.50pm on Tuesday. She reported this to police.

Then, the following night – at around 8.10pm on Wednesday, another woman walking in the same part of the park made a similar report to police.

In one of the incidents, the man was seen following a woman through the park while either filming or photographing. She then stopped to confront him, and he left a short time later.

Police say they understand the concern this may cause local people, and that they are trying to establish the circumstances.

Sergeant Paul Anderson, of Wester Hailes police station, said: “Officers are investigating reports of a man seen with a phone, possibly filming, in the Saughton Park area of Edinburgh.

“One incident was reported by a woman walking in the park around 5.50pm on Tuesday, 16 March, and another by a woman walking in the same area around 8.10pm on Wednesday, 18 March.

"We understand the concern that this could cause local people and while the investigation is at an early stage, officers are making enquiries to find out the full circumstances.”
