Edinburgh man's entire household died from coronavirus while he was fighting for his life

An Edinburgh man is the only survivor after the coronavirus ravaged his family home, almost killing him in the process.

Scott Miller was living at home with his 76-year-old mother Norma and her 69-year-old partner when they all became seriously ill with the virus reports the BBC.

Scott, 43, was taken to the ICU at Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary where he was left fighting for his life in the same hospital where his mother was also being treated.

The Edinburgh local said he was allowed to visit his mother at her ward, but he said he was so ill that he can't remember any of it.

Norma, who tested positive for the virus, sadly passed away in hospital while her son fought for his life in the ward upstairs - a week later Norma's partner also died.

Scott's sister-in-law Sharlene Miller told the BBC that in the week between Norma and her partner's funeral, the hospital called the family to say that they weren't sure if Scott was going to make it.

Scott was placed in a coma and spent three weeks in intensive care before finally making a recovery.

Sadly when he woke up he was told he had lost two family members and now he is warning people not to drop their guard against the virus.

Speaking to the BBC Scott said: " People need to understand it's a real killer, I don't think people are really taking it seriously.
