Edinburgh man rushed to hospital with 'serious injury' after Gorgie flat 'disturbance'

An Edinburgh man has been rushed to hospital after a huge police presence was seen in Gorgie last night.

Locals were left concerned after several police cars and three Scottish Ambulance Service vehicles had surrounded the property on Slateford Green.

Officers had confirmed on Wednesday evening that the incident was still "ongoing", after responding to reports of a "disturbance" at around 6.30pm.

However, the emergency services appeared to remain at the home well into the evening.

This morning, police told Edinburgh Live that a 44-year-old man has been rushed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after suffering a serious injury.

Currently, his condition this morning, is unclear, with enquiries still ongoing into the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.30pm on Wednesday, 20 January, officers were called to a property on Slateford Green, Edinburgh, following a report of a disturbance.

"A 44-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with a serious injury. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
