Edinburgh man rushed to hospital following horror crash which shut road near supermarket

A man has been rushed to hospital following a horror road smash near an Edinburgh supermarket.

Emergency services rushed to Inglis Green Road, close to the Sainsbury's store in Longstone, after the accident was reported at around 1.50pm on Tuesday.

Police say the driver has been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.

The road was closed for around one hour while the vehicle was recovered, and emergency crews dealt with the incident.

The front of the vehicle involved badly damaged by the impact, with ambulance and police personnel seen at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 1.50pm on Tuesday, 10 August, to a report of a one car crash on Inglis Green Road, Edinburgh.

"A man, the driver, has been taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

"The road was closed for around an hour to allow recovery of the vehicle.”
