Edinburgh man rushed to hospital after falling from bridge at Waverley station

A man has been rushed to hospital after falling from a bridge at Edinburgh Waverley station.

Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 11pm on Friday, and remained in attendance for several hours.

Late night train services were cancelled and overhead power lines were switched off as crews dealt with the incident.

Police say the man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with "non-life threatening injuries".

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called around 11.15pm to assist emergency partners with a concern for person call at Waverley Station, Edinburgh.

"A man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh by ambulance with what are described as non-life threatening injuries and is continuing to receive treatment."

ScotRail tweeted on Friday night to say that all lines were disrupted, and they were forced to turn overhead power off shortly before midnight.
