Edinburgh man rushed to hospital after being attacked with weapon outside Aldi

Edinburgh police are appealing to the public for information after a 39-year-old man was rushed to the hospital following a violent attack.

Posting on social media, the police are urging anyone with information on the attack to come forward.

On Wednesday, June 8, a 39-year-old man was attacked on the footpath between Gorgie Road and Slateford Green in Edinburgh. He was attacked by a man with a weapon outside the Aldi on the footpath.

The assault happened at around 1:30pm and the man was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. He has since been released.

No information that may help identify the man has been released by the Police but Corstorphine CID are eager to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the attack or could offer any information.

They are particularly eager to speak to the public as the assault happened in the middle of the day, when people may be more likely to have seen something.

Detective Constable William Doughty, from Corstorphine CID said: “This incident happened during the day and we are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened or who may be able to provide any information to contact us.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101, quoting number 1658 of Wednesday, 8 June, 2022. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.”
