Edinburgh man missing overnight sparks frantic police search

Police have launched a frantic search for an Edinburgh man who has been missing overnight.

Richard Forbes left an address in the Duddingston Crescent area of the capital at around 8am on Wednesday March 18.

The 52-year-old businessman then travelled to North Berwick, East Lothian, where he visited a cafe in the Canty Bay area at around 2.50pm.

A police helicopter was drafted in to scour the area but Richard has not yet been found after disappearing almost 24 hours ago.

He is described as being a white man, around 6ft 2, with a medium build and has grey hair.

Inspector Grant McCulloch, from Craigmillar Police Station in Edinburgh, said: “We are appealing for anyone with knowledge of Richard’s whereabouts to come forward, as we are becoming increasingly concerned for his wellbeing as time moves on.

“Officers and a number of specialist resources, such as our helicopter, have been out searching in the Canty Bay area of North Berwick, and this activity will carry on throughout today also.

“Anyone with information should contact Police on 101, quoting incident 2035 of 18 March.”
