A man has been rushed to hospital after falling from the third floor window of a flat in Edinburgh’s historic city centre.
The 21-year-old received emergency treatment at the scene on Bank Street in the early hours of Friday morning before being quickly taken to a medical facility for further observation.
His injuries are understood to be “serious but not life threatening,” according to Police Scotland.
It comes just days after Norwegian student tragically died when he fell from the window of a tenement block in the Capital.
Torbjorn Svele Hagen, 23, lost his life after he fell out of his third-floor flat on Lauriston Place on the morning of Tuesday, June 1.
The Edinburgh Napier University student had been lighting a cigarette and listening to music when he slipped from the third floor window.
Officers closed off Bank Street on Friday morning, restricting access to cars and public transport for more than an hour while emergency crews tended to the injured man - who has since been transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
Police remain on the scene after erecting a cordon around the pavement outside the flat and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
However, officers do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.55am on Friday, 4 June, we received a report that a 21-year-old man had fallen from a window in Bank Street, Edinburgh.
"The man has been taken to The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstance.”
