The moment a huge military plane swooped across Edinburgh yesterday has been caught on camera by an eagle-eyed local.
At around 1.25 pm yesterday, residents witnessed the low-flying A400M Atlas aircraft boom over the Leith area while it was undertaking essential military flying training above the capital.
The RAF plane had taken off from the Brize Norton base in West Oxfordshire and was spotted 'practicing landings at Edinburgh Airport.'
An RAF spokesperson confirmed to Edinburgh Live: "We had an A400M Atlas aircraft from RAF Brize Norton conduct routine, essential military flying training within the Edinburgh area on Wednesday 12 May 2021."
The RAF spokesperson continued: "Our aircraft will regularly conduct flying training within the local area here at RAF Brize Norton and across the United Kingdom.
"The aircraft are based here at RAF Brize Norton, West Oxfordshire, which is home to the RAF’s Strategic and Tactical Air Transport (AT) and Air-to-Air Refuelling (AAR) forces.
