Edinburgh locals search for 'Julia' after beautiful birthday cake found on street lamp

Edinburgh locals have launched a search for 'Julia' campaign - the intended recipient of a delicately decorated birthday cake found on a street lamp.

The treat, with the words 'Happy Birthday Julia' intricately piped on top, has been identified as having come from The Sicilian Pastry Shop in Leith.

Images shared online show the white cake - complete with candles - then dumped on a pavement in Edinburgh.

Now, locals are trying to find Julia with one describing the mystery as 'the best thing that's happened in lockdown'.

How did the cake get up onto the lamppost? Who moved it onto the street? WHO IS JULIA?

The questions are endless and Edinburgh locals have been keen to solve them.

However, after The Sicilian Pastry Shop shared the images on their Facebook page the mysterious origin of the cake may have been discovered.

A friend of 'Julia' commented that the cake had in fact been stolen, replying to another person on the thread: "I know and me you and her where genuinely wanting to eat it lol on the bright side she won’t forget this birthday in a hurry."

The bakery kindly told Julia via Facebook, "swing by the bakery and we'll make sure you get a new one".
