Edinburgh locals react as piano dumped in 'posh' Morningside fly-tipping

Edinburgh Live has been reporting on all sorts of seriously disturbing lockdown issues lately, such as a seagull enjoying a rat for dinner.

With the capital trapped in lockdown and recycling centres only just opening back up, fly-tipping and dirty dumping across Edinburgh has been on the rise.

But nothing quite as serious has happened as this fly-tipping commotion near the up-market area of Morningside.

Described as the 'most Edinburgh thing' to happen, locals have been reacting to the 'posh' fly-tipping of an entire piano being dumped on a residential street.

The incident was brought to light when a shocked resident posted on a Meadows community Facebook saying:" Today in fly-tipping: Someone has abandoned ... a piano on my block?"

Edinburgh locals were quick to see the funny side of such a 'posh' item being fly-tipped, with one woman declaring that it was: "The most Edinburgh thing" she had ever seen.

Another local said: "You can tell it's proper posh round there - you get discarded pianos in your street, we get discarded p***-stained mattresses."

Even the woman who ended up with the piano outside her house in the first place couldn't help but see the funny side saying: "Spoke to one of the neighbours who said the people meant to collect it couldn’t fit it in their car. (Their car?!?! It’s a PIANO!) I’m not sure what the etiquette is in these cases?

"I've found out who left it and their window is directly over the piano and they have a baby so ..."

Another local remarked: "Please tell me that's not getting skipped. I could make a lovely bench from it.."
