Edinburgh locals left in stitches after seeing alpaca being driven around the city

Edinburgh locals were left stunned as they witnessed an alpaca being given a tour of the city in the back of a Vauxhall Zafira on Friday afternoon, The Daily Record reports.

An eye-witness was quick to capture the image, despite being confused by what they were seeing, where a man wearing a green top is acting as the alpaca's chaperone for the day.

We're probably all used to seeing the odd dog with its head hanging out a car window, having the time of its life, but one animal we don't associate this behaviour with, is this furry creature.

Posting the image on Facebook, under the group: 'Scotland from the Roadside', the onlooker suggested the animal was being given a guided tour.

The post was captioned: "Alpaca from the roadside on a tour of Edinburgh."

As expected, people were quick to comment on the post, making sure what they were seeing wasn't a trick image.

One person said: "Now that's something you don't see every day."

Another said: "Not your everyday spot, "while a third added: Why in earth???"

Some locals were even jealous of the driver's companion, with one saying: "I wanna take a road trip with an alpaca!!!"

Other Facebook users were quick to employ their wandering sense of humour, with one person commenting: "Alpaca wee bag fur ma hoalidays."

While another added: "Casually taking the alpaca shopping... 'alapaca your shopping for you sir'.

As the animals are usually at home in a large field out in the open, one user voiced their concerns over the thought of the alpaca needing the toilet on their journey across the city.

"I don't want to think about cleaning out the trunk if that drive goes on for long enough for the alpaca to need to go potty..."

This image just goes to show that you can expect pretty much anything in Scotland's capital.
