An Edinburgh drinks company are launching gin cruises down the Union Canal in the heart of the capital.
Summerhall Drinks Lab will take Edinburgh locals for a leisurely sail along the canal while offering a tutored tasting of five different gins.
The gins are tried out neat and then drank as part of a mixed drink or cocktail - something we can definitely get onboard with.
Throughout the open-air cruise (here's hoping for sunny weather), two knowledgeable hosts will explain the botanicals, flavours and story behind each gin sampled, take an entertaining look at gin history and production, and answer guests' burning questions about all things juniper.
The cruise takes place on the Lochrin Belle canal boat, owned by social enterprise Re-Union. The boat ride begins at Fountainbridge, Edinburgh, and sails up to Slateford before returning to the start point over two hours.
Jamie Shields, owner of Summerhall Drinks Lab said: "Our Cruises have been a very important fixture in the gin calendar for many years, and we 're incredibly excited to get back on the canal and sample some wonderful gin.
"The cruise events are a fantastic opportunity to try new and exciting gin from Scotland and further afield, and are a great way to enjoy a leisurely afternoon sailing out of the city with a cocktail in hand!"
Gin Cruises along the Union Canal in Edinburgh start on July 3, and run on the first and third Saturday of the month at 1pm and 4.30pm.
Tickets are very limited as capacity is reduced to allow adequate distancing to take place on board and are on sale here.
