Edinburgh local horrified after multiple 'large' rats scurry around Leith in broad daylight

A Leith local has captured on camera the moment her peaceful evening walk was disturbed by multiple large rats on Friday evening.

Lindsey Galloway couldn't believe her eyes when she spotted the 'brave rats' running around a Leith path on route to the shore, just off Anderson place

The resident recalls how the rats were scurrying around and even 'eating cake' in broad daylight.

She told Edinburgh Live: "We were just walking along the path when we spotted some very brave rats, running about. I couldn’t believe it at first, it was the middle of the day, but they weren’t scared or anything.

"There was at least three of them. At first, I thought it was mice but quickly realised they were bigger and then saw the tails."

"Obviously there are always rats in a city I just didn’t expect to see them skittling about on a path in the middle of the day. It’s not exactly the nature watching I had in mind."

The news comes as Edinburgh Live reported how a capital pest controller has been inundated with calls due to a sharp rise in the number of rats spotted at residential properties in the city.

The phones at Tae A Moose have been ringing off the hook in recent weeks and months. (You can read the story here. )
