Edinburgh Italian restaurant dishing out free pizza and pasta to locals every Saturday

An Italian restaurant in Edinburgh's West End is giving out free food to locals every Saturday evening.

Jonathan and Pasquale, owners of family-run Frizzante Proseccheria, have been quietly running a little initiative to spread joy to the public during lockdown.

On Saturday nights around 9pm, Pasquale puts out food - mainly pastas and pizzas - that would otherwise go to waste and gives it away for completely free.

As it's become more and more popular, the co-owner of the Lothian Road restaurant has now decided to put out an honesty box alongside the food and if people are able to, they can donate a small amount which will go directly to the Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity.

Frizzante is the sister restaurant of Decanter Winery and Dinery in Bruntsfield and has been offering takeaway and delivery services throughout Edinburgh's lockdown.
