Edinburgh is the fourth most pricey city in the UK to buy a pint

Whilst some Scottish cities topped the poll as some of the cheapest places to buy a pint in the UK, Edinburgh has been revealed as one of the most expensive.

Drinkers in Dundee enjoy the cheapest pints in Scotland, paying around £3.08 compared to average of £5.15 in London.

Lucky pub goers in Perth also enjoy cheaper pints than the UK average of £3.94, with people there paying around £3.14 on average.

Research by finder.com, a consumer credit website, looked at the price of a jar across the world. And whilst Edinburgh was on the pricer side in Scotland, it was a long way off the most expensive city in the world.

In Doha, Qatar, you could expect to pay £10.86, whilst in Oslo, Norway, it would set you back £7.57.

In the UK, Edinburgh came in as fourth most expensive at £4.74, behind London, Brighton (£5.02) and Cambridge, where punters pay £4.91.

But Glasgow falls not far behind Scotland's capital, where the average cost is £4.31.

Finder.com found the cost of a pint had risen by four times the rate of inflation in 2020.

Researcher Georgia Rose-Johnson said pubs could be trying to recoup there loses after coronavirus : “It is probable that pubs and bars may have to increase their prices in order to make up for the losses they have incurred by being closed (because of lockdown ), causing the cost of a pint to be even more expensive next year.”
