So the results are in. The average price of a pint in an Edinburgh pub can be revealed.
Those of us living in the city are well used to 'Edinburgh prices' when drinking out in bars and restaurants. Yes, we know it's not as cheap as some other cities, but it's something we all accept.
Pints at sub-£4 are something of a talking point, while you'll never be shocked at paying a fiver for a drink when out in the city centre.
According to a new study the average cost of a pint in the Scottish capital is £4.48.
The figure was produced by money.co.uk as they named Edinburgh the 16th best city in the world for beer drinkers – taking into account factors such as bars, pubs and clubs per 10,000 people, and breweries per 10,000 people too.
For Edinburgh the study found that there were 0.45 breweries per 10,000 people, and 4.45 bars, pubs and clubs per 10,000.
When it comes to drink prices the city was among the most expensive of the 20 places named on the 'best in the world' list – behind only Dublin (£4.70), and Wellington, New Zealand (£4.55).
