Edinburgh intruder walked into woman's Pilton home and 'tried to get into bedroom'

A concerned local has spoken out after an intruder walked into her mother's home in Edinburgh with no explanation.

The local is appealing for information after the man 'calmly' let himself into the West Pilton Gardens house on 18 October and 'tried to get into the mum's bedroom.'

The pair say they are 'shaken up' by the ordeal, which resulted in the person having to 'chase' the intruder out of the home.

Now the resident is warning locals in the area to keep an eye out, and make sure their doors are locked at all times.

The victim told community facebook page, TRIM FoWP: "A man walked straight into my mother's house last night in West Pilton gardens and tried to go into her bedroom.

"I chased him out, we are pretty shook up, I don't think it was accidental, he was too calm.

"Police have visited today, I've to keep my door locked and if someone comes to the door use the spy hole.

"I genuinely think he was chancing his luck but worth warning others.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers are carrying out enquiries following an incident which happened at a house in West Pilton Gardens on Sunday evening. Around 9.20pm on Sunday, 18 October, 2020, a man walked into a house in West Pilton Gardens for no apparent reason.

"The man left when challenged by the occupants, however gave no explanation for his intrusion.

"Officers want to hear from anyone who may have seen the man in the area on Sunday evening.
