Edinburgh International Book festival podcast: Junot Diaz, Claire Kilroy and Paul Durcan

Pulitzer prize-winning author Junot Diaz's latest collection of stories, This is How You Lose Her, involves characters he's been writing about since the mid 1990s. He explains the appeal of writing stories powered by a single voice, admits he's a little suspicious of what words can do, and tells us why he can't stop writing about Yunior and his brother Rafa.

As she began The Devil I Know in 2008, the novelist Claire Kilroy found the world she was writing about falling around her ears as the financial crisis gripped Ireland and the world. She introduces her slippery narrator, Tristram St Lawrence, and considers who is to sit in judgment when we are all to blame.

The poet Paul Durcan finishes today's podcast with a performance of 'A Man Besotted By His Batch' - travel as he may, there there is nothing more precious to an Irishman than the crusty loaf of his homeland.
