Edinburgh hotel and bar The Raeburn 'devastated' as confirmed Covid cases force closure

An upmarket Edinburgh hotel and bar has been forced to shut its doors for the next ten days due to positive Covid-19 cases.

The team at The Raeburn in Stockbridge say they are "devastated" by the news, but are taking extra measures to ensure the safety of staff and guests. Team members affected are not said to have come in contact with guests.

Staff are now self-isolating and a deep clean will be carried out, before the planned reopening on June 18. Anyone who had reserved a stay between now and then will be contacted.

The Raeburn confirmed the news on social media earlier on Tuesday, posting: "It is with a heavy heart that we have unfortunately had to make the difficult decision to close The Raeburn for the next 10 days. We’ve had notification of positive Covid-19 cases in one department and we are taking this extra measure to ensure the safety of our staff and guests.

"Please be reassured that these team members have not come in contact with our wonderful guests. This decision is based on keeping the rest of our team and the public safe. However, all details have been passed to track and trace to ensure we are following all procedures.

"We are hoping to open our doors again on the 18th June, if you have a reservation with us before then, you will be contacted by our management team!

"Thank you for your understanding, we are devastated that we are closing once again but feel this is the right thing to do for everyone.

"All of our team affected will now isolate and we will take the next ten days to deep clean the whole building.

"Please all stay safe and we can’t wait to be back."

Edinburgh Live reported at the weekend how three city centre restaurants had been forced to close due to coronavirus cases. Chez Jules on Hanover Street, The Voyage of Buck on William Street and Rollo on Broughton Street are all closed temporarily.
