Edinburgh hospital worker who went missing after nightshift is found safe and well

A woman who sparked a major police search after going missing in Edinburgh has been found safe and well .

Shanice Smith vanished on Thursday at around 8am following her night shift at the Royal Infirmary in the capital.

Officers from Police Scotland launched a frantic search mission to find the 26-year-old after she was seen driving her BMW 1 series hatchback with white, blacked out windows.

Her sister who had previously taken to Facebook to appeal for help to find Shanice thanked people for their help.

She said: "HOME SAFE EVERYONE THANK U FOR SHARING AND SPREADING THE WORD!!!!!!!"

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police Scotland can confirm that 26-year-old Shanice Smith, reported missing on Thursday 1st August, has been traced safe and well.

"Officers would like to thank the public and media for their assistance with this enquiry."
