Edinburgh Holiday Inn to be revamped after sale

The Holiday Inn Edinburgh City West Hotel is to undergo a multi-million-pound refurbishment this year after being taken over.

The property has been bought by Atlas Hotels, which owns and operates 48 UK hotels and is the country's largest franchisee of the Holiday Inn Express brand with properties in Scotland, England and Wales.

The 101-bedroom Edinburgh venue, which is 1.5 miles from the city centre and close to Murrayfield Stadium and Edinburgh zoo, will become a Holiday Inn Express after the refurbishment.

The real estate and corporate teams at law firm Burges Salmon advised Atlas Hotels and its parent company L+R Hotels on the acquisition. Burges Salmon partners Robert Forman and Danny Lee led the team.

Forman said: “We’re delighted to have worked with Atlas Hotels and L+R Hotels to bring this transaction to a successful conclusion, adding another hotel to its fantastic selection and kicking off the ambitious development plans for this Edinburgh property.”
