Edinburgh’s beloved Hogmanay is making a return for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic began.

The three-day street party will return to the streets of the Scottish capital for the first time since 2019, and to mark its return, the organisers are promising attendees a New Year’s Eve celebration to remember

Around 30,000 people are expected to descend on Edinburgh for a weekend days of live music, fireworks, and revelry.

Find out below how you can get involved in the return of Hogmanay.

When is Hogmanay?

The world-famous street party is set to kick off the three days of merriment at 8 pm on Friday, December 30, 2022.

Before the event comes to a close on Sunday, January 1, 2023, partygoers can expect live music, vibrant fireworks, and a “spectacular midnight moment” with personal LED wristbands.

Edinburgh’s Hogmanay has joined forces with tech innovators Xylobands, which were behind the LED wristband moments at Glastonbury and Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony.

Outdoor bars and street food spots will be dotted throughout the arena to refuel the celebrants.

How to get tickets for Hogmanay

Tickets for the Hogmanay Street Party are on sale for £27.50 per person on Edinburgh’s Hogmanay website.

Residents with a valid Edinburgh postcode get a £5 discount, paying £22.50 per ticket instead. However, those who wish to buy the discounted ticket have to create an account first to share their address details.

Wheelchair users or those with access requirements and their companions are asked to email access@assemblyfestival.com to book their tickets.

Those who wish to attend the Concert in the Gardens event and enjoy live music in West Princes Street Gardens will have to book it separately.

The tickets for this haven’t been released just yet, but Edinburgh’s Hogmanay website says details are “coming soon”.

Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is supporting a local charity focused on the homeless, Social Bite.

Not only will it be fundraising throughout the festival, but it will offer ticket-buyers the option to donate while they are purchasing their tickets.
