Edinburgh health centre to be demolished and replaced with new housing development

Plans have been submitted to see a former local health centre demolished to make way for new housing.

The site of the former Wester Hailes Health Centre has lay derelict for years, with proposals to erect new housing in the space.

Located at 7 Murrayburn Gate, the former centre is located next to the Westside Plaza shopping complex, as well as the Odeon Cinema.

Already surrounded by affordable housing, plans created by the council will see a number of other affordable properties built on the site.

The site area been mapped out includes a block of flats already on Murrayburn Place, as well as the open car park, shrubbery and back loading area to the former health centre.

If planning permission is granted, the development would include a series of new buildings that would replace the health centre.

A consultation is to be held with the public to discuss the project in further detail online on December 8 from 3-7pm, before plans progress further.
