Edinburgh Harry Potter-themed bar to reopen with magical 'Wizard Afternoon Tea’

As Edinburgh's bars and restaurants gear up to reopen next week in line with Scotland's lockdown easing, the capital will regain its most magical venue.

Harry Potter-style magical 'potions' bar, The Cauldron, has announced its return and with it the launch of an interactive ‘Wizard Afternoon Tea’ Experience.

If you've always felt fairly confident that you'd pass your Hogwarts potions OWL with flying colours, this one is for you.

Use a working magic wand to brew scintillating teas and interact with an experimental cake stand topped with a pulsing dragon egg.

The food offering is a magical twist on traditional Afternoon Tea with sand-witches, Elven scones wrapped in banana leaves, freeze-dried Skittles, and éclairs oozing with mini pipettes filled with chocolate sauce.

Your magic wand is also used to open a locked puzzle box containing the ingredients needed to brew the flavourful teas - complete with pestle and mortar and timed with extra large tea timers.

Tickets cost £34.99 for the Arcane Wizard’s Tea and £19.99 for the Little Wizard’s Afternoon Tea. Bookings are now live here.

From May 17 when lockdown eases again, guests can add a glass of bubbly (with actual alcoholic bubbles), cocktails dispensed via magic wand from the mouth of a unicorn, or a Cauldron signature molecular potion.

The Cauldron Edinburgh is located in New Town at 57a Frederick Street, Edinburgh EH2 1LH - visit their website here.
