Edinburgh girl, 10, suffers serious facial injuries after being mauled by two dogs

A ten-year-old girl suffered serious facial injuries after being mauled by a dog outside an Edinburgh shop.

The schoolgirl was allegedly attacked by two Japanese Akita dogs while standing near a convenience store at Hailesland Grove, in Wester Hailes.

Police rushed to the scene on Tuesday, October 29 around 3.40pm and the youngster was taken to Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

She is due to have surgery for serious facial injuries, but is reportedly in a stable condition.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland told the Daily Record: "Police were called at around 3.40pm on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 following a report of an alleged dog attack on a ten-year-old girl on Hailesland Grove, Edinburgh.

"She was taken by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

"She is in a stable condition and due to have surgery for serious facial injuries.

"A 34-year-old man has been charged in connection and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
