An Edinburgh gin festival has been cancelled with just two weeks to go over fears it would not be up to its usual standards.
Juniper Festival 2021 announced on Thursday afternoon that they would not be going ahead with their October event after a number of challenges had arisen in the last year.
Marked to be running from October 1 -3 at Summerhall, organisers stated that is was "with a heavy heart" they would be postponing the festival until next summer.
The festival has been running since 2014 and has proved extremely popular with locals, seeing hundreds turn up every year to sample a range of different drinks.
However, the festival explained to ticket holders that this years event "would not be of the high standard" seen at previous experiences.
They said: "It's with a heavy heart that we have to announce the postponement of Juniper Festival until next summer. Despite a lot of hard work in pulling together a large event in a sea of uncertainty, the challenges faced have proved too great for our small team and any festival we put on would not be of the high standard our wonderful guests have come to expect of us since Juniper Festival began in 2014."
"Thanks to those who purchased tickets and to our exhibitors who supported us, we're devastated we can't bring you all together under our banner again! We'll give you details of our rescheduled 2022 date next week, and in the mean time we'll continue to offer great gin events year round at Summerhall Drinks Lab."
Those with a ticket for the 2021 event have been contacted, with the option to be refunded or have the ticket deferred until 2022.
