The team won 3-0 and over 5000 fans attended the match at Easter Road last night as the women faced Edinburgh Rivals Hearts.

The win has put the team third in the Scottish Women’s Premier League behind Celtic and Rangers with nine points.

Rachel Boyle who scored the second goal of the derby said: “Incredible support tonight! Well done to everyone involved in making this happen and to everyone who came along to cheer us on another step in the right direction for women’s football in this country.”

The Leith club shared the great news on social media with over 800 likes and hundreds of comments.

Speaking to the BBC Hibs head coach Dean Gibson said: "It was a brilliant night all round.

"To have more than 5,000 at a women's game was amazing, they showed a real appreciation of the quality that was on the pitch.

“I think a couple will have gone home with a different opinion of the women's game and it will hopefully get them turning up at our other games.”
