Edinburgh football club devastated after the theft of defibrillator

A community football club in Edinburgh have been angered by the theft of a defibrillator from their clubhouse.

Craigroyston FC, who play in the East of Scotland Football League, have been impacted with a myriad of antisocial incidents at their North Edinburgh ground but the latest act could be life threatening.

The defibrillator is believed to have disappeared in the past couple of weeks and the club say they are desperate for its return.

The life saving equipment is a requirement for football clubs of their level and club chairman, Darren Affleck, says that the club cannot afford to replace it at this present moment.

He is pleading with whoever took the medical device to return it immediately.

Darren said: “We were doing a bit of a clean up at the pitch and clubhouse but the doors were never left open for a prolonged period of time. So it’s been a very short window that the defibrillator has gone missing.

“It’s a really pricey thing as a club to replace and there is no chance that we would be able to afford to replace it at this present moment.

“So we are hoping that the person that’s lifted it can return it back to us.

“As part of any football club we need to have our defibrillator at situ at all home games in case it’s ever required.

“We not only have players and football personnel but also some fans in attendance so its importance is massive.

“The importance of the defibrillator is paramount especially if you think about the things we have seen at grassroots football over the years and even professionally with Christian Eriksen.

“I can’t believe someone would lift something of this importance though, crazy what people will do.”

If you have any information on the whereabouts of the defibrillator, then please contact the club through their Facebook page.
