Edinburgh Foodies Festival - one of the capital's most popular food and drink events - have announced that their 2021 event will now be postponed until 2022.
The event was set to take place next weekend (August 6-8) at a stunning new venue, the Scottish National Gallery Of Modern Art having normally taken place at Inverleith Park.
However, in an email sent by the team today, the news has been shared that the Foodies Festival in Edinburgh will be postponed until 2022.
The event states in the email that they had been working with Edinburgh Council but 'we have been notified only today that we are unable to proceed in the way that we had hoped because of Covid regulations ' - leading to the decision to the postpone the much-anticipated event.
The email from the sales team (sent to Edinburgh Live by a recipient) reads: "It is with a very heavy heart that we have to postpone Foodies Festival Edinburgh until 2022.
"We have been working with Edinburgh Council to allow the event to go ahead as a recognisable Foodies Festival and have been notified only today that we are unable to proceed in the way that we had hoped because of Covid regulations. We now have no option but to postpone the festival until next year 5,6,7 August 2022.
"We had applied several weeks ago for a dispensation to increase numbers to a capacity that would make the event work and unfortunately were not granted the level that we needed, and were also told today that various Covid regulations would apply to the event that would not make it a proper Foodies Festival.
"I would like to offer you the opportunity to transfer your booking to another festival as we have just delivered 3 very successful festivals in Tatton Park, Winchester and Cambridge and have six more festivals planned for the Summer.
"If you are unable to transfer to another festival then we would like to transfer your booking to Foodies Festival Edinburgh 5,6,7 August 2022."
Edinburgh Live have contacted the City of Edinburgh Council for comment.
