Edinburgh Fix My Street update: Gogar roundabout problems, school lights and more potholes

Want to get something fixed in your street? If you've not used it yet, the Fix My Street widget on our blog is a fast way to report something to the council.

Powered by MySociety.org, all complaints are logged and tracked through to completion. In the past month, 1,812 reported problems across the country have been sorted via Fix My Street.

As this report from Sunday shows, you don't have to live within the city centre to demand action. Potholes in Mansfield Road just outside Balerno are said to be forcing traffic onto the wrong side of the road. Like every other post to Fix My Street, the report has been filed to the City of Edinburgh Council. Once the problem is fixed, the person who submitted the report will be notified and the page will be updated.
A broken streetlight outside Queensferry primary school is reported here, while the opposite problem has been reported in Glebe Gardens in Corstorphine, where it is said that the lights won't go out during the daytime.

Thanks to Liz Gibson for filing this report to the site on Monday:

"The kerb stones on the corners of Hermitage Park Grove and Lochend Road are particularly high and there is no lowered section of pavement for wheelchairs or mothers with prams/buggies to use making crossing this road awkward."

See it on the map here.

An anonymous post reports an "extremely dangerous" new trend among some drivers at the southern approach to the Gogar roundabout.

Potholes are a common problem highlighted on Fix My Street. This report from Sunday says there is a pothole and a dropped manhole cover in St John's Road, Corstorphine.

As this post shows, it took a month for a pothole in Stevenson Road, Gorgie, to be fixed. Unfortunately, it has been re-reported as having emerged again.

This post about a worn out road surface in Cutlins Road was first filed in February and after some temporary solutions the road was reported as fixed this week.

As the above posts show, action can sometimes take a while. But without reporting the problems in the first place they are likely to take longer.

Have you used Fix My Street? We are keen to get your feedback on how the system works, so please make any comments below.
