The hotel is a former Victorian railway building and has managed to maintain a similar theme throughout, with the rooms resembling that of Victorian times, instead of the slick modern look that most new hotel's opt for.

It features 241 rooms, two gyms, an indoor pool outlooking Edinburgh Castle and the UK's only Guerlain Spa.

The staff at The Waldorf have been rewarded with their excellent service and facilities as they have been recognised in the awards that has gained more than 800,000 voters.

The awards are designed to acknowledge the very best experience in the industry and reward those that maintain an impeccable service. Resorts, Spa's, Car Rentals, Airports and Cruises are all amongst the competitors competing for the top prize.

Having been recognised as the 6th best hotel in the UK's longest-running and most prestigious ceremony, the Waldorf can add this to their impressive cabinet of achievements.

General Manager of Waldorf Astoria - The Caledonian, Dale MacPhee said: "We are extremely honoured to be recognised in this year's Condé Nast Readers Choice Awards, and to be chosen by voters as Scotland's favourite city centre hotel.

"We would like to thank all who voted for recognising the efforts of our team, especially during these challenging times. We are incredibly grateful and heart-warmed for the ongoing support of our amazing guests."
