Edinburgh law firm Davidson Chalmers and Glasgow-based Kergan Stewart are to merge on 1 May.
The independent commercial law businesses will become known as Davidson Chalmers Stewart.

The new firm will retain all existing roles by combining 16 partners and 45 staff. Davidson Chalmers partner Craig Stirling will head the new corporate team. The firm includes seven high-profile partners with experience across a wide range of business sectors.
Alan Stewart, founding partner of Kergan Stewart, will become chairman while Andrew Chalmers is managing partner of the new firm. Davidson Chalmers Stewart will continue to operate from the combined firms’ existing offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Galashiels.

Kergan Stewart was founded in 2012 and describes itself as "not a traditional law firm". Davidson Chalmers is part of the international legal network Globalaw.
