Edinburgh female football player in tears after fat shaming from police officer

A police officer has been blasted as a "bully" after fat shaming a fellow football player on the field.

The officer, who plays for Celtic FC Women, has been slammed after claims she "fat shamed" an opponent during a crunch match.

The abuse was said to have left Hibernian Women’s Siobhan Hunter in tears after the teams clash in the capital on Friday night.

The officer, who has not been identified, reportedly taunted the 26-year-old Hibs defender by shouting: “Hahaha you still no lost any weight, there’s always next year or year after”.

The officer has been slammed as “a disgrace to the game” after it emerged Siobhan - a Scottish international - was left distraught over the “disgusting” match day comments.

Siobhan’s sister, Georgi, revealed on social media that her sibling has battled with depression over many years due to her perception of being overweight.

Beauty consultant Georgi said: “Tonight someone very close to me, my best pal, my sister has came home from her football game that they lost against Celtic ladies absolutely sobbing her heart out.

“No not because they got beat but because one girl has left her feeling very upset and absolutely distraught - I hope she sees this and I hope it makes her feel that little bit sad inside, even a inch of what my sister is feeling.

“It puzzles me the fact this girl is a police officer so I’m sure this is a big factor in her job?

“My sister has struggled for years with mental health and depression and for some bizarre reason she thinks she’s fat.

“Can we all take a minute to appreciate that people are flying to Turkey every second day to get surgery for a figure like my sister [but] trying to explain this to Siobhan is difficult.

“My sister trains two times a day in her gym and trains three times a week for football and plays one day because she thinks she’s fat.

Mental health is such a big thing these days and I really struggle to understand what people get out of being pure vile and nasty to someone who is simply doing what they do best.

“I just want to let them know what they done tonight is shocking behaviour and she should be ashamed of herself.

“I hope you're happy [as] my sister has refused to even eat her dinner tonight so if this makes you feel good then you should maybe seek help.”

Hundreds of footie fans have backed Georgi’s comments on the police officer’s callous jibe towards her sister.

One user posted: “Get that horrible police officer sacked if that's the kind of people protecting our streets.

“I truly hope your sister is ok. I have struggled with weight gain after having kids and would give my right arm for your sister’s figure.”

Another said: “Clearly that lassie is living a jealous life which will only come back to bite her. Siobhan has an amazing figure and has nothing to worry about.”

“Lowest of the low, keep your head up Siobhan Hunter - you’re better than them," added another.

Meanwhile, one person blasted: “This is vile and heartbreaking, that people in this day and age are body shaming people. You have an amazing figure hun.

“You go out your way everyday to make people feel good about themselves.”
