Edinburgh facing possible power cut as 25,000 homes across Scotland without power

A possible power cut has hit half of Scotland, including Edinburgh as it has been reported that over 25,000 homes are without power, according to SP Energy Networks.

As also reported by Edinburgh Evening News tonight, there have been wide reports of power cuts in many areas across the east coast, including Edinburgh as Storm Arwen hits Scotland with a bang.

it has been said that Aberdeenshire and Moray are the worst affected areas, but parts of East Lothian are getting to a severe level as well as reports of building damage on Dunbar High Street.

As many as 25,000 homes have been reported to have lost and restored power tonight, with more still losing power at the moment of writing.

One anonymous resident in Edinburgh told Edinburgh Live: "I've been charging my phone all night and keeping battery packs at hand incase of this.

"Now my lights have flickered a few times, and I fear the worst."

Residents in Scotland received a statement from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks that read: "Good Evening.

"This is a message from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks.

"We are calling to let you know that you may be experiencing a loss of electricity to your home.

"Our engineers are on their way to begin investigations and we expect the majority of customers' power to be restored by midnight. We will keep you updated until your power is restored.“
