Edinburgh emergency services rush to Water of Leith after man falls from bank

Emergency services raced to Belford Bridge near Dean Village, in the early hours of Friday, July 30 after reports that a man had fallen into the water.

Dramatic pictures show the area surrounded by police, fire engines, and an ambulance.

A 37-year-old man was rushed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment and has since been discharged.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.05 am on Friday, 30 July, we were called to the report of a 37-year-old man having fallen into the Water of Leith near Belford Bridge in Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and the man was traced safe, he was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment to minor injury and has since been discharged.”
