Edinburgh motorist hospitalised after Easter Road smash leaves car on roof

A motorist has been hospitalised following a two-car crash on a busy Edinburgh road.

Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue services rushed to the incident on Easter Road this afternoon after a smash between two vehicles.

One car was flipped onto its roof in the collision after coming into contact with a white van, which also sustained damage.

A two truck has since moved the overturned red car, while one occupant has been rushed to hospital for further treatment.

Onlookers rushed to the aid of the person to drag them from the vehicle before emergency services arrived, according to eyewitness reports.

Three police vans were in attendance alongside two fire engines and the road remained closed for more than an hour while an operation to move the car took place.

Easter Road has since reopened.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Emergency services were called to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Easter Road, Edinburgh at around 4:25pm on Monday, July 12.

"One person was taken to hospital for treatment and the road was closed until around 5.50pm.”
