Edinburgh emergency services race to fish and chip shop after 'concerns for 12-year-old'

Emergency services rushed to an Edinburgh neighbourhood after reports of a schoolboy on the roof of a fish and chip shop.

Police Scotland scrambled to West Granton Road in the capital after receiving reports of a concern for a 12-year-old boy who was on the roof of Jubilee takeaway.

Two hours later, the young boy was assisted safely down.

Police Scotland have said enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.20 am on Wednesday, April 12 2023, police received a report of a concern for person who was on a roof in West Granton Road, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and at around 13.35 pm, a 12-year-old boy was safely assisted down from the roof.

“Enquiries are on-going to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.”
