Edinburgh Easyjet flight bound for London declares mid-air emergency shortly after take-off

An EasyJet flight from Edinburgh heading to London declared a mid-air emergency on board, shortly after taking off.

The London-bound plane was heading from the capital first thing this morning.

It is understood that a Squawk 7700 alert was made as it flew over Biggar in South Lanarkshire, according to reports from the Scottish Sun.

The EasyJet flight has continued on its journey to London this morning after taking off from Edinburgh just after 6am.

The alert was picked up by online plane monitors and shared on social media, and it's not clear what sparked the emergency call.

It's understood that the plane landed around 7.17am.

EasyJet has been contacted for information.

The Scottish Sun reported earlier this month how easyJet passengers staged a mutiny after armed police tried to evict two men off a flight to Malaga.

Holidaymakers were shocked to see cops climb on board following an altercation on the way to the runway.

The men reportedly "huffed" after being told to put their shoes on for take-off as they were sitting in an emergency exit row.

But holidaymakers on the flight from London's Gatwick Airport on Thursday said the Easyjet crew overreacted when they brought in four armed officers to kick them off the plane.

They not only had their luggage taken off the aircraft, but they even confiscated their passports for being "disobedient".
