Edinburgh drivers warned as Queensferry Crossing crash causes 50-minute tailback

Drivers heading into Edinburgh from Fife have been warned they can expect delays of up to 50 minutes following two incidents on the M90.

Traffic Scotland issued an urgent update to motorists on Wednesday morning (November 9) after the two crashes caused chaos on the Queensferry Crossing.

The first incident took place on the bridge between two vehicles at around 6.55am with a second collision occurring moments later at 7.05am.

Recovery services had raced to the scene to minimise disruption, and the two crashes have now been cleared.

However, delays from both incidents has caused severe delays heading southbound on the M90, with live images showing lengthy queues lasting short of an hour.

Speaking on social media, Traffic Scotland said:

"#M90 QUEENSFERRY CROSSING - COLLISION Both collisions are now clear of the carriageway on the #M90 Queensferry Crossing, with all lanes running on the crossing. Traffic is now tailing back on the Southbound - Travel time 50 minutes."
