Edinburgh drivers have cars seized on major city centre road in police crackdown

Two Edinburgh drivers saw their cars seized by police this week after being caught out on a major city road.

The motorists were found to have committed different offences after officers set up a checkpoint on the Western Approach Road on Wednesday (August 15).

Stretching from Murrayfield to Lothian Road, the major 40mph carriageway is frequented by hundreds of motorists every day, making it an ideal location for a stop zone.

In a warning on social media, road police stated they had set up the checkpoint as part of their summer drink/drug drive campaign, and pulled over a number of vehicles.

Sharing an image of a blue Ford and silver Vauxhall on the back of a recovery truck, officers said that the two drivers were both found to have committed license and insurance offences.
